Mottledfire proudly looked down among the cats as they yelled out his name, along with the others'. He silently jumped down and made his way to Burrclaw. "Thank you for always supporting me." he shyly meowed before going over to his parents.
"Well, look at our mighty warrior!" Flowertail meowed to Mottledfire.
"Mom... I mean, er, Flowertail..." Mottledfire quietly meowed, emberassed.
"You can call me mom!" Flowertail kiddingly meowed, licking Mottledfire's ear. "That's what I am, after all."
Mottledfire turned to Needlefur and just nodded. He didn't know what to say, but a nod was the least he could do until he figured out what to say to his father. Needlefur returned the nod, and knew that it only meant that Mottledfire didn't know what to say.
Mottledfire quickly meowed to both, "Well, I have a vigil tonight, so I guess I better get my talking out. See you in the morning."

((ooc: Flowerpawpaw? lol. Anyway, I don't know what you mean by 'Mottledpaw was not coming out' and then going ahead with his ceremony...)) ((bic:)) Mottledpaw came out and meowed confidently, "I do." before jumping up onto the Highrock. He had been sitting in the apprentice's den waiting for Burrclaw to get him for training, but instead was surprised. It was the apprentices' warrior ceremony! Burrclaw looked over at Mottledpaw with a glint of happiness in her eyes. As he passed by, she meowed cheerfully, "I would have told you to sleep in a little bit, but that would have given it away." Flowertail and Needlefur looked on lovingly. Flowertail almost tried to groom Mottledpaw as he went y, but Needlefur stopped her. "He's a grown cat now. Leave him alone and let him enjoy his proud moment without an emberassment," he meowed good naturedly. "He is a big cat now..." Flowertail meowed. "He looks strong. I'm sure he'll be a fine warrior." ((ooc again: By the way, I have some names to suggest... *shy face* How about Mottledstorm, Mottledear, Mottledrain, Mottledheart, or Mottledcloud? Whichever one you think sounds best.))

The next day, Mottledpaw was up much earlier. "I set us off for training in a bad mood yesterday, so I won't let it happen again today." he meowed as he took a mouse off of the fresh-kill pile.
Burrclaw awoke to see a very bored Mottledpaw by the fresh-kill pile. "Come on, Mottledpaw, let's go." she meowed. Mottledpaw got up and followed Burrclaw. "Wait," he said. "What is it?" Burrclaw asked. "I scent a couple of mice by that tree, in the opening under its roots." he replied.
Burrclaw watched as Mottledpaw skillfully snuck up on the mice. He pounced and actually hit both with his paws, though one got away. "You can't go after both at the same time," Burrclaw reminded him, "Or else you might just lose both. Now come on, let's get to the hollow. Today is fighting techniques."
Burrclaw and Mottledpaw both reached the hollow, and Burrclaw meowed, "Now, go stand by that log. Good." As he walked over she meowed, "Now I need to see just what you think fighting really is. Come on, hit me."
Mottledpaw ran at Burrclaw clumsily and lanched himself at her head, all the while mock spitting and hissing. Burrclaw stepped to the side as he hit the ground.
"You'll never pose a threat like that," she meowed. "That's how a kit fights. Here, try this." She then flicked her tail towards the log. "Pretend that log is another cat, and that wierd knob on it is the cat's head." She then launched herself at the log, jumped and landed, just behind the "head". She then proceeded to leave many scratch marks in it. "That's how you can hit a cat while its moving, and actually do some damage. Now you try."
Mottledpaw repeated exactly what Burrclaw had done. "Well done. Now try this..."
Burrclaw and Mottledpaw returned later that evening, both proud. Burrclaw for how smart and quick her apprentice was, and Mottledpaw for the fact that he had learned how to do at least one fighting move.

Burrclaw awoke and yawned. As she padded into the middle of the clearing, she grabbed a vole from the fresh-kill pile and waited. "He's such a sleepy head," she meowed to herself. "Mottledpaw always liked his sleep."
Mottledpaw awoke much later than the other apprentices and ran outside. "I'm ready for training!" he meowed loudly. "Not until you get a meal." Burrclaw reminded him. "And hurry. You overslept much more than the others."
After he had eaten, Mottledpaw followed Burrclaw out of the camp. "So where are we going?" he asked. "We're going to the training hollow. You need to learn how to hunt." Burrclaw replied.
Near evening, Burrclaw and Mottledpaw returned with a great bounty of fresh-kill, even for leaf-bare. Flowertail and Needlefur padded up to them. "So how was our little Mottledpaw?" they eagerly asked. "He is a very determined, fast learner." Burrclaw commented. "He instantly picked up the hunting techniques. I can already sense he will be a great warrior."

Flowertail woke up to hear happy meows outside. "Mottledkit, stay here." she mrrowed. She turned and looked at a saddened and angry Mottledkit. "It is not SnakeClan. Settle down. If it was, they would have come at midnight and be dead already." She walked outside to see Mosstar, three kits, and a very happy Whitescale.

"Speaking of kit transfers, in a couple of days some of you will be leaving. I still don't know who, but be prepared to have to leave, my kits." Flowertail meowed. Mottledkit padded over to his mother and purred. "Don't worry. We will all be ready to leave. Not without a couple of sad words, you know, but we'll still be able to handle it."

((ooc: Of course u can join, Crowfeather!))
Feathertail looked at Greywing. He was obviously upset over his kit's death. She looked back to Mottledkit. "Hear that, dear? Greyfur is dead. Your friend's death was avenged." Flowertail meowed.
"It's not good enough! This is all Blacknight's fault!" Mottledkit replied. "I'll kill him when I grow up! I'll kill all of Snakeclan!"

The other kits woke up to Mottledkit's yelling. Flowertail sadly meowed, "I guess I should tell you what happened now... At the gathering, Snakeclan had attacked. Their leader, Blacknight, came in here and took Snowkit and Gravelkit. One of the SnakeClan warriors, Greyfur, killed Gravelkit. I'm so sorry, Mottledkit. I'm so sorry. I didn't want to tell you so fast."
Anger was replaced by extreme sadness in Mottledkit's face. "My... my best friend... No! It isn't real! I'm still sleeping!" Gentlekit walked over to Mottledkit. "Brother, please! It's real. Mom wouldn't lie to us about something so sad. You know mom couldn't even handle something like that by herself. It has to be true." Mottledkit pressed against his Flowertail.
"My best friend... I'm going to become a warrior and kill Blacknight! I'll get him back for this! Its his fault!"

"Uh oh. I hope that Mottledkit didn't..." Flowertail was cut off by a quick "What?!" and looked to see a distressed Mottledkit. "What happened to Gravelkit?! That's what you're worried about, isn't it?! Where is he?!" Flowertail's ears immediately flattened in sadness and distress. "Honey, settle down... Please, settle down! We have to tell you when the others are up! Please... Settle down!"
Mottledkit then yowled back in anger, "Tell me what happened to my friend! Tell me RIGHT NOW!"

((ooc: actually, their eyes are open.))
"Actually, their eyes are open. They just must have been asleep, and Blacknight wanted to get out so quick he didn't notice." Then Mottledkit woke up. "Hey Mom. Why do you look so worried?" Flowertail replied, "It's nothing, honey. Be quiet so the others can sleep." She turned to Whitescale and whispered, "Hide Gravelkit's body. Mottledkit and him were best friends, and he'll be very upset to see Gravelkit's body. We have to wait to tell him until the others are awake. He'll be much less likely to run away if he has some comfort when he's told."
She then added, still whispering, "And I am very sorry about what happened. I... I would be so upset if that happened to my kits."

"But... but why only your kits? All four of mine are still here, yet he took your last two?" Flowertail furiously meowed.
"Don't you think he would have rather had the 4 than the 2?"

Flowertail looked over. "Oh no! Gravelkit was... was lost in the battle, wasn't he?" Flowertail mourned along with Whitescale. She hated death, especially of the young and innocent. "He... he was so little. I'm so sorry, Whitescale. I'm so sorry."

((ooc: This post is a little while later, when kits have opened eyes and such.))
Flowertail woke up and smiled down at her kits. "My beautiful kits, it is time to wake up." Mottledkit and Cloudykit were the first to wake up, then Leafkit, then Gentlekit got up and stretched, mewing a soft tone as she yawned. They all turned around to nurse and... "Needlefur! Wake up! The kits' eyes are open!" Needlefur bounded over, astonished. "Look, Flowertail! Look at Leafkit's eyes! They're 2 colors, just like mine!" Flowertail looked down. "Yes they are. Come here little kits, its time you drank. You look starving."

About 3-4 hours later, there were 4 kits, happily nursing from Flowertail. They were named swiftly, as Flowertail had a knack for finding perfect names. She named her first kit Leafkit, for her colors looked like the leaves in leaf-fall. She named her second kit Cloudykit beacuse of his thick, gray swirls on a white pelt. Her third kit was named Mottledkit, for from afar he looked like a normal gray tabby, but up close you could see very faint orange splotches behind the stripes. Her last kit's personality gave her her name, as it was apparent as soon as they started nursing. She would not climb on the other kits, and waited for the others to nurse before she stepped to her mother's belly. She was a longhair tabby, and she was named Gentlekit. Flowertail looked kindly at her kits while they peacefully nursed. "They are beautiful... Needlefur, you are a father now, and I'm a mother." Her eyes sparkled and shone as she looked at her kits, never taking her eyes off of them, until they finally fell asleep. She watched for a few more seconds, and then she, too, closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Flowetail laid in the nursery panting, for she was extremely nervous. This was her first litter, and they were coming very soon. Needlefur nervously licked her ear many times before quietly meowing, "Don't worry. None of them will die. If they inherited either of our strength, they will live."
Needlefur remembered the day when he and Flowetail had both caught greencough, when they were still loners and had just met. Within days, the cough had miraculously cleared, without any use of herbs. For many days after, both were extremely weak, though, and almost starved because they couldn't hunt. Then, one day, a wounded rabbit stumbled before him, and he swiftly killed it. Both ate and could move again, and all signs of the greencough that had once ailed them had disappeared.

Shineheart shuddered in sympathy. "I have seen many, many mothers lose a kit to greencough, but I haven't seen many born with it. This is serious. The other kits might have a newer case of it, but Copperkit must have had it for a while before she was born. The other kits are in danger. And so are you. She had to have gotten it from somewhere. If she had it, there is a very large chance that the other kits do, too. If any of the other kits start to act strangely, please immediately come and get me. We might be able to catch it before more are dead."
She shuddered again and sadly meowed, "It is tragic to lose a kit from your first litter, especially to such a deadly disease. Please keep an eye on the others."

Burrclaw looked down at all the cats as she heard chants of, "Floodfire & Burrclaw!" She was so happy. If I knew my mom, she would be so proud right now, she thought. She turned to Mosstar and said, "Thank you. I'm very happy." She then touched noses with Mosstar and gracefully walked down the rock.

Burrpaw was happy to be invited over to share in Floodpaw's kill. She was even happier that she was going to be a warrior. Oh, to be a warrior so soon... she thought. I've come so far since being a kit... I'll be a warrior! I wonder what my new name will be? She laid down next to Floodpaw and started to pick at the stork. She wasn't neccesarily the smallest of the apprentices, so she was still hungry. One mouse (even if it was pretty fat) still could not fill her up.

"Um.. sure, I'll join you. We're gonna become warriors? That will be perfect! Its about time I had to go to gatherings." Burrpaw said, happily. She then sulkily added, "I'm never picked to go." She perked up again and went over to join Mosstar and the rest.

Burrpaw grabbed a fat mouse from the pile. The stork was Floodpaw's kill, and Burrpaw didn't want to take advantage of it. She wasn't jealous or anything, she just thought it would be more respectful, since it was such a rare kill for an apprentice... "When I do catch a stork or something magnificent, I don't care if she returns the favor or not. I just want to be respectful." Burrpaw padded over and congratulated Floodpaw, and then went to the side of the clearing and ate.

Burrpaw ran until she met Floodpaw, and was astonished to see a good-sized stork clamped in her jaws. "Floodpaw, how did you catch THAT? Tell me! Tell me!" Burrpaw meowed.
